For superior performance of state and production activities, which favored the improvement of living conditions of people in the Far North, and for personal contribution into social, economic and cultural development of the Murmansk region Vladimir Kalinnikov, chairman of the Presidium of the Kola Science Center RAS, was awarded a title of “Honored citizen of the Murmansk region”.

       For great personal contribution into social and economic development of the Murmansk region Valentin Petrov, vice-chairman of the Presidium of the Kola Science center RAS, was awarded a Certificate of Merit of the Murmansk region.

       For services in professional activity and great personal contribution into social and economic development of the Murmansk region, Anatoliy Vinogradov, chief scientific secretary of the Kola Science Center RAS, was awarded a badge “For services to the Murmansk region”.

       Following the results of contest for grant of the President RF for state support of young researchers – Philosophy doctors and their research advisors, in the year 2008, Michail Kovalevskiy (Giological Institute) became a winner of the contest.

       For services in research activity, aimed at management and processing of mineral resources of the Kola Peninsula, remarkable contribution into social and economic development of the Murmansk region and also in honor of the 50-th anniversary of the Institute the following employees of the ICTREMRM KSC RAS were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Governor of the Murmansk region: N. Grishin – head of department, A. Pak – senior researcher, M. Palatnikov – head of sector, N. Sidorov – head of department.

       At the VIII Moscow Internationa l salon of innovation and investments, which took place on March, 3-6, the Mining Institute KSC RAS won a gold medal for a development “Kola platinum province: innovation route from forecast to mine construction” and two bronze medals for developments “New and non-conventional types of strategic and deficit mineral raw resources (gold, diamonds, etc.): forecast and primary results” and “New technologies and methods of increase of operating life of open-worked mineral deposits: aspects of study and analysis of structure heterogeneities”.

       Board of guardians and Expert commission of the Foundation for national science assistance announced the names of new prize-winners in the following nominations “Philosophy doctors and Doctors of science RAS” and “Best post-graduate students RAS”. The researchers of the Kola Science Center RAS are among the prize-winners. Doctors of science: Andrey Gorokhov (IIMM KSC RAS), Dmitriy Makarov (ICTREMRM KSC RAS). PhD RAS: Alexey Ryzhenko (IIMM KSC RAS), Pavel Chufyrev (ICTREMRM KSC RAS). Best post-graduate students RAS: Anna Shamatrina (Mining Institute KSC RAS).

       By the presidential decree “Award of state awards RF” No. 32 of January, 11, 2008 the following researchers were awarded for labor achievements and long-term conscientious work:
       David Motov, chief researcher - medal of the order “For services to motherland of the II degree”,
       Veniamin Orlov, head of laboratory – honorary title “Honored metallurgist RF”,
       Boris Freidin, head of laboratory - honorary title “Honored metallurgist RF”,
       Viktor Zakharov, head of laboratory - honorary title “Honored chemist RF”,
       Alexander Kasikov, head of sector - honorary title “Honored chemist RF” .
