Main completed research projects:

   Methodical basis and raise of stability of territorial systems in the North (2001-2003). A conceptual approach to the state socio-economic policy in the North was developed. The main problems and directions of the state regional policy in the North of Russia were investigated. The matters of economic potential use were studied from the position of regional concerns and efficient nature management. The main directions of elaboration of normative crisis-proof measures control as a state policy element, aimed at failure prevention and financial recovery of insolvent enterprises were worked out. The mechanism of planning and economic management of small-scale business at a regional level was developed and conditions for sustainable development of business in the North of Russia were defined.

   Peculiarities of economic policy in the European North of Russia under conditions of macroeconomic instability. (1998-2000).

   The methodological basis for the development strategy of territorial economic systems of the European North of Russia was developed. The macroeconomic analysis of socio-economic state of regions was fulfilled and the matters of stabilization and outlooks for the development were studied. The role of country's northern territories as a major economy stabilization factor, providing the supply of mineral raw materials and energy resources to the home and world markets and currency entry, favoured by the increased role of northern marine ports and thoroughfares, was found out.

  • Concept of agreement between defensive and economic activities. Developed within the Federal Task Program "World ocean", 1999
  • The role of northern economic systems in the national economic security. Scientific report. Submitted to the Security Council of the Russian Federation for a meeting of a work group "Emergency situation in the northern regions of Russia and possible threats to national security" 16.02.1999.
  • Main problems and directions of the state regional policy in the North of Russia. Scientific report at the Congress of towns of Zapolyarye and the Far North. 26.10.2000
  • Economic activity in the territories adjacent to and affected by the Northern Marine Way and outlooks for the development of related freight flow for near 15-20 years. The economic evaluations of the freight flow and activity arrangement recommendations for the western route of the Northern Marine Way have been given. 2000.
  • The improvement of current legislation in the field of failure-proof policy was suggested, 1998-2000.
  • The mechanisms of small-scale business development as a state administrative object were found out and recommendations for improvement of state support of small-scale business at regional and local levels under conditions of the North were developed, 1998-2000.
  • A scientific-analytical report "North of Russia: urgent issues of development strategy" was developed. Submitted to the Scientific Council RAS. 2003.
  • New lines of investigations in the realm of sustainable development and nature conservation of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, having circumpolar importance were worked out, 2004. Submitted to the Ministry of Economical Development of Russia and Administration of the Murmansk region.
  • A system of socio-economic indicators of the northern regions was developed. Submitted to a Program of basic research, Department of social sciences RAS "Russia in World Globalization" 2003.
    Current research subject:

        Socio-economic trends and sustainable development strategy of the Far North and Arctic zone of Russia. (2004-2006)

       Brief annotation: Study of principles underlying the regional economic policy in the North of Russia: historical-economic and theoretical aspects.

       Development of economy and nature management in the Far North and Arctic. Goals and long-termed guiding lines for sustainable development. Development strategy and major principles for state support and control of development in the northern territories.

       Definition of main parameters for improvement of control system and legislation for sustainable development of Russia's northern territories.

       Scientific basis for improvement of zoning of northern territories, insurance and indemnity arrangements in connection with labor activity in the Far North and Arctic.
