MI KSC, Mining Institute


General information.


The Institute includes 15 laboratories: physical-technical problems of mining and rational use of underground space; geomechanical problems of underground construction; open-pit mining; underground mining; blasting control; rock mechanics; mine ventilation; methods and equipment for underground construction; flotation reagents and complex phosphate ores beneficiation; metal ores beneficiation; electric mineral separation; new for beneficiation technologies and apparatus; non-metal ores and rare metals beneficiation; physical and chemical methods for analysis and control; underground thick deposits development; section of mining system analysis; design bureau, information services. At the Institute there is a Specialized Scientific Council K 003.79.01 for defence of the theses for Ph.D. and M. degrees in mining engineering and physical processes of mining.

Facilities: Pilot beneficiation plant; automated seismic monitoring station in the Khibiny mining area, Kola geodynamic test site in the Lovozero massif.
