Laboratory of non-ferrous and rare metal ore preparation and mineral processing

Head: A.I. Rakaev, Dr. Sci. (Eng.)

Research areas:
• The development of scientific grounds of ore-preparation.
• The invention of a technology of non-ferrous and rare ores concentration.

There are found and theoretically grounded new regularities of ore size reduction in rod mills; there have been developed methods of grounds of selection of initial and final size reduction and methods of intensifying of minerals exposure in gravitational concentration.
The laboratory has proposed a number of new technological solutions to increase the efficiency of rare metal ores concentration.
There has been created a new energy-saving technique of apatite-nepheline ores preparation for complex concentration.
There have been developed combined techniques of chromite ores processing in the Kola Peninsula (Sopcheozerskoye deposit) and the Polar Urals (Ray-Iz mass) providing the recovery of several concentrates, suitable for production of ferrochromium and refractory materials.
There have been made some original gravitational concentrating equipment.
A new magnetic-gravitational concentration technique for ilmenite-titanium-magnetite ores deposit of Yugo-Vostochnaya Gremikha has been developed.
