Laboratory (¹ 32) of New Technological Processes and Apparatus

Head: V.F. Skorokhodov, Dr. Sci. (Eng.)

Research areas: Development of hydro- and aeromechanical principles and designing devices for combined techniques of dressing of mineral raw-materials with complex composition.

There have been studied conditions of formation of the physical-chemical properties of water-activated air dispersions in the aeration of the gas phase with downward jets of liquid, the regularities of mineral particles behavior in hydrodynamic flows, when particles are affected upon with magnetic and vibration fields.
There have been given grounds of the mechanism and conditions of triboelectrization of minerals with low conductivity, while based on the former, efficient patterns of electrical separation of mineral raw-materials have been developed.
There have been developed new methods and devices to enhance processes of ore dressing and to purify sewage water from various pollutants, while the application of the above made it possible to reduce power costs by 20-30% in production of iron superconcentrates: to increase nickel recovery by 0,8% (in case of copper-nickel ores); for phosphorus pentoxide by 2-3% (apatite ore), to increase the efficiency of mica ore dressing and to reduce the harmful admixtures content in discharge water till the required standards.
There have also been studied processes of formation in technological flowsheets of open stationary systems, arising during the processing of apatite, iron, small size mica and other types of ores, where mineral complexes are concentrated with low contrast of separation characteristics. There have been suggested new technical solutions, based on which some concrete recommendations have been given to provide an increase of technological indices of separation of hard-to-process ores, which are processed at concentrators, located in the Murmansk region and other parts of this country.
