Laboratory (¹ 22) of complex development and economics of mineral recources
Laboratory Head - S.V.Lukichov, Dr. Sc. (Eng.)
Research areas:
• Development of scientific grounds and methods of complex mining of mineral resources in the north-western region.
• Development of the theory of designing open-pit, underground and combined methods of mining of the solid minerals deposits.
• Development of new and improvement of existing technological patterns of deposits mining in complex mining-geological and
mining-technical conditions.
Based on the developed concept of new generation pits a transition has been scientifically grounded to in-pit crushing and conveying
(ICC) for mining at "Olkon" JSC and "Kovdorsky GOK" JSC, the latter currently launching into operation Russia's first ICC complex with
movable crushers.
While using advanced information technologies R&D is being performed on involving into operation new deposits developed with small and
intermediate scale pits. A number of feasibility studies, providing optimizing of boundaries of open-pit operations for deposits of
platinoids, copper-nickel, titanium and phosphate ores have been performed.
A database on second waste deposits in the region has been created and is being supplemented. Based on the developed recommendations
the mining of a second waste deposit of apatite-baddeleyte raw-materials is being carried out at "Kovdorsky GOK" JSC.
It has been proved advisable to apply high benches with vertical slopes when forming pit walls at the utmost position in order to
increase the angle of their inclination.
The developments are being implemented in pits of "Kovdorsky GOK", "Apatite", "Kolskaya GMK" joint-stock companies.
There have been developed:
- methods of selecting resource-saving techniques for underground and combined mining of rare metal, apatite, iron ore, mica and
copper-nickel deposits of the Kola Peninsula;
- methods, algorithms and software enabling one to implement a differentiated selection of geotechnology parameters and to assess
their efficiency for complex structure deposits in order to increase the profitability of their mining;
- a classification of systems of combined mining of ore deposits by the method of division of the stopes, generated as a result of
open-pit and underground mining of reserves;
- scientific grounds and technological patterns of sub-pit reserves mining at thick ore deposits of the North providing the thermal
isolation of the stoping space using snow-rock layer.
There have been developed the theory and methods of solving the key tasks of the mining - the selection of an efficient geotechnology,
when observing the balance between economic interests of the state and the mining industry.
