Laboratory of technological processes of mineral recovery

Head: S.A. Kozyrev, Dr. Sci. (Eng.)

Research areas: Development of scientific grounds for control over fragmentation and seismic blasting effect, new compoundings of explosives for the mining industry, safe and comfort parameters of the air medium during mining operations and information technologies of automated design of blastings and ventilation systems.

There have been developed scientific grounds of prediction of seismic impact from bulk blasting under a large alteration of boundary conditions.
There have been scientifically grounded and developed methods of the blasting effect control in stressed media to provide the necessary quality of ore fragmentation, to decrease negative seismic effects and dynamical manifestations of rock pressure. There has been created the system of automated designing of bulk blasting for underground and open-pit operations and the methods of parameters calculation for drilling and blasting operations in complex mining-geological conditions have been developed. There has also been developed an integrated method of blasting characteristics as well as relative blasting efficiency assessment for modern industrial explosives.
There have been obtained new compounding compositions and developed a technique of preparation of industrial explosives for mining enterprises of the Kola Peninsula.
There has also been created a universal software package for automated designing and providing ventilation of mines, which enables one to design various kinds of ventilation systems, to select their optimum parameters and to assess the safety of the air medium in tunnels.
Some scientific grounds of calculation of natural aeration patterns as well as pollution parameters of the pit atmosphere depending on its orography, meteorological and structural-technical conditions have been suggested as well as a software package for on-line inspection and prediction of the pit atmosphere condition and to control mining operations in various meteo situations.
