The Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute of N.A. Avrorin, Kola Science Center RAS, was awarded a Letter of Honor from the Governor of the Murmansk region for substantial progress in the studies of plant and soil resources of the Murmansk region, solution of new scientific problems of amenity planting and development of northern towns, promotion of natural science and in connection of the 75-th anniversary of its foundation.

       For long-term conscientious labour and contribution to capacity-building of the Murmansk region and also in connection of the 75-th anniversary of the foundation of the Botanical Garden and 100-th anniversary of its founder and first director N.A. Avrorin the following employees of the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute, Kola Science Center RAS, were issued a commendation from the Governor of the Murmansk region: Ivanova L.A., senior researcher, Dr.Sc. (Biol.); Kabasova N.S., chief accountant; Kazakov L.A. senior researcher, Kashulina G.M., chief researcher, Dr.Sc. (Biol.). Kostyuk V.I., chief researcher, Dr.Sc (Biol.) was awarded a Letter of Honor from the Governor of the Murmansk region.

       A competition among the organizations of the Murmansk region “The Best Innovation Project and the Best Development Project of the Year” took place within the framework of the XI international exhibition-congress “High Tech. Innovations. Investments” on 25-28 September 2006 in St.-Petersburg. Seven developments were presented there by different enterprises. Summarizing the results of the competition, the I degree certificate and the gold medal for “The Best Innovation Project in the field of ecology and efficient nature management” was awarded to the Mining Institute for its development “New technology for treatment of platinum-metal ores of the Fedorovo-Panskiy massif in the Kola Peninsula”. Also the Institute was awarded a certificate in the nomination “The best innovation project in the field of advanced engineering technology” for its project “Creation of a compact laboratory eloctro-impulse disintegrator” (JSC “Impulse High Tech”).

       A web-site in memoriam of Belkov Igor was launched. Its address is http://ibelkov.narod.ru/index.html , it contains detailed data on the life and work of Belkov I.V., including his art reproductions.

       By a Presidential decree No 481 of 17^th May 2006 Lobanova Vera, chief accountant and head of the department of finance of KSC RAS was awarded the title of “Honored Economist of the Russian Fredericton” for her services in the field of economics and financing.

       By a decree No 491 of 17^th May 2006 the director of the Geological Institute acad. Felix Mitrofanov was awarded the order of Honor and the deputy director of the Polar Geophysical Institute Vladimir Ivanov was awarded a medal “For services to Motherland” of the 2^nd degree.

       By a presidential decree of 20^th April No 408 the director of the Polar Geophysical Institute KSC RAS Tereshchenko Eugeniy was for his long-term fruitful work and substantial labour progress awarded the Order of Honor.

       A group of researchers of the Center was given governmental awards by a presidential decree of 18 February 2006, no. 125. Among the recipients are Valentine Petrov (Order of Friendship); Petr Gromov, Nikolai Kozlov, Anatoliy Kozyrev, Anatoliy Usov (medal of the order “Services for Motherland” of the 2^nd degree); Vladimir Denisov (“Honored Scientist of the RF”); Leriy Kazakov (“Honored forestry specialist of the RF”); Nadezhda Perelomova (“Honored worker of housing and communal services of the RF”); Tatyana Pisareva (“Honored culture worker of the RF”), Pereverzev Vladimir (“Honored agricultural worker of the RF”); Victor Snegov (“Honored transport worker of the RF”) and Nikolai Kashulin (“Honored ecologist of the RF”).

       Academician Gennadiy Matishov and Gennadiy Tarasov, Dr.Sc. (Min.-Eng.) were given a Governmental Award of the Russian Federation in the Field of Science and Technologies for 2005 for development, scientific substantiation and introduction of advanced technologies aimed at creation of ecological and geological grounds for resources management at the West-Arctic shelf of Russia.
