M.Sc., Head of the Library
The Kola Science Library had its origin in 1930 when the Khibiny mountain station "Tietta" started its activity. The foundation of the library is nearly 6000 volumes presented by academician Alexander Fersman. The library collection reflects scientific activity of 10 institutes of the KSC: Geological, Mining, Chemistry and Technology, Polar Geophysical Institute, Economic Problems, Industrial Ecological Problems, Modelling and Informatics, Physical Problems of Energetics, Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute, ╠arine Biological Institute. The library collection is distributed in buildings in Apatity, Kirovsk, Murmansk.

The Murmansk region, the Barents Euro-Arctic region: geology, mineralogy, chemistry, physics, mathematics, botany, biology, soil sciences, mining, ore-dressing, informatiocs, environmental protection, meteorology, resources, ecological monitoring, ecosystems, Arctic seas, economic problems of the Northern Russia, sustainable development, wasteless technologies for Cold Climate region.
Total collection of the Library - 500,000 units (books - 215,000; periodical titles - 260,000; special issues - 25,000).
