NIKOLAEV ANATOLY IVANOVICH

(born 03.03.1944). He graduated from the Northwest polytechnic institute, while his background is - technology of inorganic substances (1969). He is a PhD degree holder ("A study of niobium and tantalum extraction with sulphoxides from fluoride-sulfate solutions", 1975). Dr.sci. (engineer.) (1992). At the Institute of chemistry and technology of rare elements and mineral raw materials of the KSC of Russian Academy of Sciences from 1962 - a laboratory assistant, a senior laboratorian, a junior researcher, a senior researcher, the head of laboratory of chemistry and technology of raw materials of refractory rare elements, the deputy director for scientific work (with 2004). The area of his scientific interests is the complex processing of mineral raw materials including the extraction method of recovery and separation of rare metals; reception of pure, pigmentary and welding materials for ecological purposes.

He has suggested and studied new effective extragents for rare metals with an assessment of change of extraction properties of organic phases at the increase in them of destruction products content. He has shown, that some of extragents possessed an increased stability and efficiency relative to extraction of niobium and tantalum from sulfuric and fluoride solutions. He has established the mechanism of extraction of fluoride and sulphatic complexes of niobium, tantalum and titanium which has led to the development of effective processing flowsheets of loparite, perovskite, chalcolamprite, sphene and columbite-tantalite concentrates including extraction recovery of compounds of niobium and tantalum of various purity. He is a winner of the State award of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology (2000). He is the author of 328 scientific papers, including 5 monographs, 42 copyright certificates and patents, 162 research papers. He is a member of the Scientific (since 1986) and Dissertational Councils of IKHTREMS (since 1998), of the Board on extraction at the Scientific Council on inorganic chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1987), of General Assembly of Scientists of the KSC of Russian Academy of Sciences (since 2002). Professor (2001), deputy head of Chair of chemical technologies of the Apatity branch of MSTU (since 2004).
His basic publications (as a co-author) are: Processing of nonconventional titanic raw materials of the Kola peninsula, 1991; Extraction of niobium, tantalum and other elements from fluoride solutions, 1988; Chemical processing of mineral concentrates of the Kola peninsula, 2003.
