I.A.Turchaninov was organizer and director of the Mining (prior to 1972 the mining-metallurgical) institute of the Kola Branch of AS in 1962-1980. He was an expert in the field of mechanics and physics of rocks, technologies of underground mining of deposits. He was a corresponding member of the Branch of geology, geophysics and geochemistry (mining sciences - mining of solid minerals) from March, 15, 1979. During his work the building of the Mining institute was constructed (1973) as well as buildings of pilot works of the institute (1972).       A memorial tablet bearing the name of the corresponding member of the AS of the USSR Igor Aleksandrovich Turchaninov was mounted on a wall of the Mining institute building in June, 1982.
