On behalf of the Organizing Committee I would like to thank you for your response to the Second Announcement. We are looking forward to welcome you all at our traditional meeting of the friends of the Baltic Quaternary organized already since 1966.
The Symposium will start and end in Apatity. The participants of a Field Symposium will be accommodated in the Russ` holiday inn located in picturesque vicinities of city near Imandra Lake. There will be 4 days in the field and one day with paper and poster presentations.

Transport: The Apatity can be easily accessed by the railway transport from Moscow and Saint-Petersburg and by plain via Murmansk from Moskow, Saint-Petersburg, Luleo (Sweden), Tromso (Norway), Rovaniemi (Finland). Transportation of participants from the airport Murmansk will be organized, if the participants will inform the Organizing Committee in advance.
The Geological Institute can be easily accessed by public transport:
from the railway station - buses No. 8, 101, 105 to Lenin Square stop.
The bus ticket costs 10 rubles (about 35 cents). The ticket you can buy in the bus.
On the 4.09. from 17.00pm the challenge bus will carry the participants from the Geological Institute to the Russ` Holyday Inn.
Accommodation:
The registration fee covers accommodation from September 4 (afternoon) to 9 (afternoon) including full board, excursion travel, social program and conference materials. The registration fee does not cover any health or travel insurance. Those needing the reservation of the hotel in Apatity before/after the Symposium are kindly asked to inform the organizers not later than August 15.
All the participants are asked to inform the Organizing Committee about the exact time of arrival and departure, at least a two week beforehand - on August 20 at the latest. We will arrange the transfer from Murmansk and Apatity to Russ` Holiday Inn. We would be also appreciated if you let us know if you have decided to cancel the trip.
This information is urgently needed to solve accommodation and financial problems.
Presentation:
The language of the symposium will be English. Time for every oral presentation will be 15 minutes and 5 minutes for discussion. Slide, overhead and multimedia (Power Points) projectors will be available. Poster boards are 1.2 m high and 1.5 m wide.
Weather in the beginning of September is usually mild and cloudy. However at this time cold days happen and the temperature drops near 0-C and night frosts are possible. Taking into account, that excursions will pass on marks up to 1000 m above sea level (Khibiny and Lovozero Tundras) it is necessary to be ready to low temperatures. The participants have no need for rubber boots, ordinary field clothes will do.
Payment. The registration fee - 290 EURO for participants and 250 EURO for accompanying persons - should be paid in cash at the registration desk.
